gas gauge ohms

If it is original the ohms measurements is not really of much value. The gauge and sender work on a pulse system using points and heated bi-metal strips. The gauge will work with a resistance type sender, but with mixed results.
 
The ohm value when the points are closed and reading just the gauge it will be around 10 ohms (out of the circuit) but as JSEERY states the gauge actually works on the pulse system using points and heating of the bi-metal strips opening and closing.
