Gas cap

Any suggestions on where to get a gasket that fits the gas cap (1929) correctly. I have used the cork ones from the suppliers but they all seem to small.

On our last trip the gasket was not under the cap when I removed it to fill up with gas. It either fell out at some point when I was fueling or it is in the tank. End result is that the crap gas seeped down through the thread and caused the paint to blister all around the fill spout. I tried a rubber gasket but that just grows and grows.

they are suppose to be a leather gaskets Bratton`s has good ones, cork or rubber ones do not work worth a s--t. I left out on most model A gas caps the 30-31 stant gas cap had a hard paper gasket with a brass compression washer under it,

I have a piece of leather from some unknown place and make my own. Try a harness or saddle shop. Cut them with a razor knife to the size you need. You may need double layers or brass shims to get an ideal fit.

Years ago I installed the leather gasket from Bratton's. I soaked the leather with oil after installing it to the cap.
