Garage light

When working on the underside of my car at night on my back its hard to see things with drop lights. Using flood lights at times the flood light shines in my eyes as I move around. I have a lot of overhead lights in the garage.
So what can be done to get better light under the car?
Thanks

The best thing I've seen, a friend of mine took a four bulb 3 foot long neon light fixture box and slides it under the car. It works pretty good, you just have to move it around sometimes as you move under the car too,

I use multiple clip on lights that I can position to shine where I what them. I have not found that one light works very well.

I like this idea, but Home Depot has a 4 foot LED light for $60 that would probably work great (light weight and nonbreakable). I got one for my garage to replace the florescent and it's nice.

LED lights come in all sizes and shapes now and are pretty inexpensive.
Battery powered ones last a long time so cords don't get in the way.

I just bought a LED light wand from Sears that is rechargeable. LED headlamps are good, too. Camping supply stores and bike shops have them.

Get a car lift. Mine was less then $2000 and I would not do without now that I have one.

I gave up trying to get a light to shine where I was looking long ago and have used a head band light for years. It always shines where you're looking. You can get them cheap at Home Depot, Lowes, etc. Get the ones with the standard batteries rather than the watch batteries. Here's the one Home Depot sells for $15.00 that's like the one I use:

Not that you are going to do this but I built a dealers ship and they put lights in the floors under the work bays. It was great

I am close to old henry's solution. I have an led head light from a camping store. works great because it lights up what ever I am looking at.

Thanks everyone. Sure which I could have a lift. No room and it could go up only 30 to 36 inches with the car on it.

I had to modify the ceiling in my garage for the same issue. Reworked the trusses in the area over where the lift was to allow an opening for the car to move up into.

For light under my cars, that are not on a lift, I use a DeWalt 18v neon light or the DeWalt 18v snake light. These are professional grade lights w/rechargeable batteries that last for many hours, not the consumer B&D versions.
I have had a lift on my Christmas list for the last 10 years, but Santa forgets to bring it each year :(

My son bought a pair of safety glasses with build in LED lights on each side. I thought, how useless, but nice to think of me. Anyway, I was working under the car, fighting being able to see where I needed to see. Put on the glasses with lights on, and could see everything, and where I needed to look with no problem. Guess the kid knew more than me after all.
Lee By the way, the glasses are very light weight.
