garage creeper

The trick to getting up would be what a fellow I know from NC had, a rope with knots tied in it ever ten inches or so hanging from the ceiling in the center of his shop.

Jerry, Funny you should ask, as my foggy memory tells me it was you who posted a video a year or so ago showing a very expensive "Transformer" kind of creeper that changed back and forth from creeper to shop stool like one of those arm chairs that raise an old timer to his feet. I'm about there myself, but won't admit it if anyone asks.
Alan
That was not me, but I seem to remember that post.

I did the cardboard creeper for years.... just bought a creeper from Harbor Freight like the Napa one posted by Old Henry. Much better! I really like the headrest. Now I don't get dizzy.

sixseven, wonder if your mom would agree with that last part ?

I am no longer a pain in her life. That successful endeavor of my life ended years ago. And yes, she would agree at an age in the low 80's that her pain is a tad more now. In my 50's I can tell you that my pain level seems to increase, but is still tolerable. Pass the whiskey please, and don't trip over the charger for my wheelchair!

What I was referring to was the pain of child birth as opposed to late life pains. If your mom is still with us, bless her. I'm at 79 and like others here also find it a bit of a challenge getting up off a creeper. I have WD 40 in my pocket to keep me loose just in case !

WOW! I spent many teenage hours on one just like the old wooden one in Scotts photo. Dad had one in his repair shop. Even managed to take a nap under a car occasionally.

Finely bought a 4 post and retired my old creeper, 3x5x1/4 cardboard box folded over and duck taped on foam headrest.

Do not get the low rider plastic one from Harbor Freight. They are junk. I weigh about 190# and the center drags the ground when I try to roll under the car. The creeper flexes in the middle and sags causing it to drag. If you get a creeper get one with the steel frame and 6 wheels.

any of you old timers ever bin bit by one of those low lyeing creepers with the angle wheels. if you used it a lot you know what i mean.

Time was Mid to late 70's
Hair was longer,Creeper was unforgiving ~ OUCH ~ I can still here my Dad laugh ----
> Saying Now maybe you will get that hair cut <
The good thing now I am going Bald.

I bought an el cheapo at HF and it lasted about 6 months. The plastic broke. I still have my old American made creeper.

Being a commercial fisherman I studied how a walrus moved & I just imitate a walrus. No clearance under the car for a creeper & me. Now when in Oregonia different story, I have a 4 post.
