Gage Flywheel/ Housing or NOT

i have been trying to Gage my Flywheel housing, it is warped, so now i have bell housing.

My Question is how important is this procedure, my mentor has built 6 model As over 35 years, and says he's never had a problem?/?

How warped? 0.002? 0.050? You need to shim the top two bolts, the ones that hold the throttle linkage, to match the thickness of the housing gasket. Then see how much you are off.

The flywheel shouldn't be out more than .002" and the housing much more than about .006-.007"..

Thanks for all the info, i'm convinced it is important, will be looking for a different housing.

I'm not trying to add more work, but if this is a new set-up ( or an old one ) AND the
f/w will be bolted back on, you mite think about " sweeping " the f/w so everything
is square. Just a thought.
