I Feel That Old Age Creepin' On
Homer and Jethro 1949

I can tell by the look in my baby's eyes
I can't keep up with the younger guys
I feel that old age creepin' on.

All I do is walk the floor
Can't do my homework anymore
I feel that old age creepin' on.

Been around too many years
Too durn old to shift my gears
I feel that old age creepin' on.

Gonna have my crankcase drained
get my oil and water changed
I feel that old age creepin' on.

Me an' my gal in a Model T
She looked over an' said to me
I feel that old age creepin' on.

Little darlin' don't you tar
if my engine should back-far
I feel that old age creepin' on.

I'm like a flower without a stem
started runnin' on my rim.
I feel that old age creepin' on.

I need a coat of Simonize
all my tires (tars) are vulcanized
I feel that old age creepin' on.

Young men under 25
all have hydromatic drive.
I feel that old age creepin' on.

I used to be young and full of zip
but now my clutch is startin' to slip
I feel that old age creepin' on.

My dad introduced me to Homer Jethro years ago; behind the "hayseed humor" and funny songs were two highly accomplished musicians...

There's some great commercials on Youtube for Kellog's Corn Flakes done by H&J ...

My favorite Homer & Jethro songs are:

Pal-Yatchee ( with Spike Jones )
Tennesee Border #2
Movin' On
The Billboard Song
The Battle of Camp Kookamonga (sp?)

SC Frank

Ya, I feel that old age creepin in too.... In my back, my neck, my knees, my hair, my shoulders, my feet, my fingers, and OH GOD now my love life!!!! Just kidden hun, I love you!!!

Thanks Frank!

You brought back some great memories of songs I collected over the years. Especially love the Spike Jones songs.

I'd really like to have an impromptu 'sing along' at MARC/MAFCA meets in the future for songs of the era. But that's for another post and another time.

Amazing! I hadn't thought about Pal-yatchee in YEARS, but the words came right back to me while reading your post.

When we was in the city, we were wonderin' where to go,
The sign spelled out Pal-yatchee in lights above the show.
We thought t'would be a western 'til the stage lit up in lights
And ninety-seven people sung without a horse in sight.
We couldn't understand 'em cause they spoke a furrin' tongue,
But we can give you some idea of what we think they sung...

Not really a Model A Post, but a fun song! Thanks for the memories. :D

Love Homer and Jethro, the song " I'm my own Grandpaw" and others .Jethro Burns was a fantastic Mandolin Player. what album did this tune come from? I never heard it and would like to hear the melody .

" How much is that houn-dog in the win-der,"
The one with the basket-ball nose?
You know what a basket-ball nose is,
It dribbles where-ever it goes ! "

Ah, good stuff !
