Fulton After-market Wind Wings

Recently there was a thread about rare accessories, and Gerard mentioned he had a pair of aftermarket wind wings for closed cars. After contacting him, I bought them in a very smooth transaction, (Thank You, Gerard) and when I received them, I decided to change out the glass. I had seen some period wind wings in a pho posted by Vanspeed I really liked. I made my own pattern and had them cut, the results shown below. No holes were drilled into the door. The wings look great to my eye and really work well. Windows down with no drafts. The only drawback from the screw-on types are they have to be folded inward to roll up the windows, but that's not a big deal.Thank you to gerard and Vanspeed for their help.

They look great! Too bad about the window problem but that isn't really a big deal. I also love the decal. Where did you get it?

That poor dog is wondering where his breeze went?:D

I sure miss vent wings on all modern cars. At 60 MPH I could drive my 1950 Studebaker Commander with the window down and the vent open and have no noise or wind turbulence.

I think if you type in "Ford Decal" on ebay search it will come up with a bunch of other ones. I got it about two years ago, liked the look of the guy on it and bought it.

That "poor dog" is Bud, which I've had now for about 2 months. Rescue dog from the shelter. He's a Jack Russell/ Queensland Heeler mix, about 7 months old now. Great dog. He gets about anything he wants and loves to ride in the A. Saturday afternoon, I was at a red light and Bud just dropped his chin on the window sill and stared at the next car over. I don't know if they were amused by the dog, the car, or me.

Are your wind wings Fulton or CASCO? The Fulton ones look diiferent to the ones on your coupe and are stamped Fulton Ventilating Wing.
On my coupe I moved the bracket back a bit, and put a piece of U section rubber along the leading edge. I was then able to butt the glass up against the door frame, and wind the window up and down without any problems. The only downside is you cant get such a wide angle on the glass. It works for me!

Bick, I can only tell you what I was told; they were Fultons. No morkings on them at all, very "art deco" in style. They are a "compression" fit, ito the window frame. I cut rubber gaskets from an old bicycle tube and made sure they stayed put by using a dab of "Goop" glue at the contact points. Its like a harder rubber cement and can be removed, if need be. The weather being what it is in central California, my windows are always down when I'm out driving and folding them inward is no big deal. It does make wind wing mounted mirrors more of a pain, so I ruled them out.

I've seen a pair of Fulton wind wings on a Slant Window sedan at the Madison Wisconsin meet a few years ago. They were originals, not A&L's. I wouldn't know why A&L's wouldn't work though.

Maybe I'm missing something, but I don't see why this type of clamp-on wind wing wouldn't work on a slant window sedan. I had the glass cut for mine. why couldn't the glass be cut with the same angle as the window frame? The mounting pivots are directly vertical and the glass pivots inside the window. The drawback is the wind wings have to be folded in when the car window is rolled up... same as mine posted above.

REASON the A&L wont work is the area where it clamps on a SW is too wide and the door is made different.. They will not work in any way at all, You must get the standard closed car wind wing brackets..they work fine but go slow!

I understand... yours look very nice. It seems to be "Jewelry" for the car.

Bummer as I bought them for my S/W.

They came with template for the glass and directions (also) for S/W.

What's the problem?? I had a pair on my 400-A for several years... 400-a/Vicky/SW sedan ...the angle is the same. You cut the glass at the proper angle and as wide as you want.
