Fuel tank mount

Silly question, but on a 41, does the tank sit on the frame or "hang" below it. I would hate to sit it on the frame, replace body, then need to remove it for whatever reason. I know, I know, rookie move....I forgot how it came apart.
Man, getting old........
 
I'm not 100% on a '41, but a '40 tank sits on top. It's a total pain to remove & replace after the body is on, just in case you were wondering.
 
Sits on the flange of the rear cross member with one bolt safety wired to the crossmember flange. There are 2 Z shaped sheet metal brackets in the rear. Brackets bolt to the frame, tank bolts to the top of the brackets. The bracket bolts are safety wired to the frame. I removed my stock tank fairly easily after all the bolts were out with a Floor jack. Replaced it with a poly tank but that was a bear. It has been a long time but I believe that is the way it was mounted.
