Fuel shutoff valve

I also installed a electric fuel shut off rather than try to wrench the old manual fuel valve out of the 80 year old gas tank.
I think it was a good investment.

I find "out" to be easy, as brass threads do not corrode into steel all that much. "In" on the other hand, usually frustrates me because the darn valve wants to tighten just past the point I want, and you don't want to crank that brass thread around another 300+ degrees. Then the pipe tap comes out to gently, barely, clean things up 'till I get it to snug up where I want. It helps if you have a box full of valves on hand, as the thread lead start is random, not indexed during manufacture. Sort of like the castle nut or safety-wire drilled bolt that doesn't line up at the proper torque. Try another one. Since you only have one new valve, I feel your pain already.:p

Bleh :(

I haven't even drained the tank yet and I'm depressed.
I can't wait to replace the bed sills, I'm sure if the fuel shutoff valve is fun the bed sills and rear spring must be a party.

I was able to remove mine yesterday. I soaked the connection pretty good with P'Blaster inside and out (old dry tank). I used a large punch that just fit into the valve hole, and was able to turn it back and forth to work the lube into the threads. Then I was able to use channel-locks and unscrew it. Thanks for the ideas/suggestions/help!!!
