fuel regulator plumbing question

Looking to re-do my fuel line to pump to carb setup. I have a stock fuel pump and in line fuel filter. Going to put a Holley fuel regulator on, should I put my filter before the fuel pump then go to the regulator? Right now it goes from the pump to the filter, then the carbs. Thanks

Question?

If you have a stock Fuel Pump, why would you feel you also need a regulator? I feel this would just complicate the situation and I do not think a regulator will have any value with a stock fuel pump.

Please understand, that is just my opinion.

May be there is something more here that I do not understand.

Have had some troubles with too much fuel, high float levels in the carbs. Think my pump is putting out more than normal.

I have the pump ,filter and regulator set up on mine .I have the regulator set at 3 lbs.I'm using the stock pump with the glass bowl and a filter also in the glass bowl .Might be a little over kill ,but it works for me .Also have a new tank.

Most likely one of those new made pumps from China, put an old stock one that has been rebuilt using the original spring under the diaphram and see what happens. The new springs there using are too strong, this spring determinds pressure.ken ct.

I understand alot of these pumps today from suppliers are made out of this world and sometimes have 8-10# pressure, but it's easy to check with a pressure guage. I had a fellow call me a few month ago, he was working on a 34 woody for a customer of his. He was haveing alot of flooding problems. I told him to check his new pump pressure. He called me back and said, your not going to believe this, had 18# pressure. I told him it's a wonder it didn't blow the carb off the engine. Next day he brought me the 97 to check out and brought along a bent push rod. I looked at the push rod and someone had used a 32-or 38 cartridge shell on the end of the rod and it was about 1/4in to long. I think alot of us old timers could wright a book on all of the funny things we've seen in engines. Walt

What is the part number of the filter in the fuel pump glass bowl for the flathead. And where can I get one.

i might be paranoid but i all ways put the filter before the pump, i dont want any trash or a sharp piece of rust getting into the pump and damaging the diafram, most after the pump filters are used on cars with electric pumps in the fuel tank

You can get at NAPA #3039/ you also need a spring and a cork gasket fot it. Which they dont have.hardware store spring And i have the cork gaskets. Also the whole setup if you want including a new screen.Yoy have to enlarge the center hole on the paper side of the filter. Its too small to go over the center nub of the pump.I get $20 for the whole setup including shipping.Filter, spring, screen and gasket. ken ct.
