Charlie is using an ethanol resistant rubber diaphragm.
 
We bought this car in 1986. I've been running whatever fuel is available locally with no problems. That being said, the entire fuel system was rebuilt using "ethanol friendly" components AND gets driven once a month. It is my belief if you own a garage queen you are going to have fuel issues no matter what you would use.
