Guys any suggestions on removing a damaged oil filler tube from a early flathead fuel pump stand without damaging it? Thanks

just a thought you would need to expand the base have you thought of boiling it to expand it not sure how its actually secured but if its a shrink fit it should work

Boiling it would expand it. Just a thought: Put a wet rag in the freezer and almost freeze it, then wrap it around the filler tube and twist and wiggle and pull on the tube after a few seconds. Repeat several times. Should work. (At least North of the equator anyhow. LOL)

If you cant get the steel tube out with heat and cold being very careful not to crack the base then cut the steel top off close to the base and then use a die grinder or Dremmel to cut through the inside of the steel tube, the entire length, in two or three places.

If damaged, I'd think crushing it with large channel locks until it collapses on itself would work as well.

Funny, I went out to the garage and found a loose metal portion on the filler. It's certainly a tight fit that I'm assuming was pressed into the pot metal base.

Sort of the same problem on a smaller scale, on my 32 Distributor housing and removing the old oiler to replace it. Tried "gently" with a pair of Vice Grips which "morphed" in to a "hammer fisted" 4000psi tightening of the vice grip on the old oiler and still didn't seem like it wanted to move. SO, I turned it on its side and put Ballistol around the base of the old oiler and let it sit for 24 hours THEN was in the shop the next day SO another run of Ballsitol around the base of the oiler and another 24 hours later.....POOF, a gentle grip and nudge and it came loose and I was able to pull the oiler out with NO Issue

YOU will find that Ballisol is amazing stuff.....A must have in my shop AND in my loading/cleaning/Gun room!!!
