Fuel pump pushrod

A simple question ......and three totally different answers........It is what makes this site so exasperating .....or colorful depending on how you look at it. I sure would like to see the engine that is fed with a 2 1/2" stroke fuel pump though,....Matt in Alameda

Well ... if he says 2 1/2 inches ...

Re: Fuel pump pushrod 51 merc-ct

51 Merc, You are slipping. Normally you have the Ford logo spinning.

If you are trying to set your push rod for the correct length for the best pumping action The best way to do this is to remove the nuts holding the oil filler base ,with your hand lightly on the oil filler cap just enough to compress the pump actuating arm spring .Then crank over the starter until the pump lifts up ,add or remove gaskets at the base until you make use of the total travel of the cam .no more and no less .

Obviously I have a problem posting. Give me a few months I'll get the hang of it.

Hey Ol Ron, You are doing a great job of posting. We love having you here man. I hope to get to see you on the NE tour. Two pots of Chili should be just enough for me :D;) JM

I too get around .200. I've looked and never found a spec from Ford...diagnostic bulletin on the thing uses a special indicator from KRW but gives no number...just good or bad!
