Fuel pump push rod length

I have an edelbrock intake on my 59ab. I have two fuel pump rods, one shorter with an umbrella affair and one that is fatter and longer and is too big for the bushing. The problem is that the shorter one is way long, may an inch. Also, what is the stroke for the pump? Is there a sprecial push rod I can order? Can I cut down the rod I have? Yes I so have the correct fuel pump.

There were 2 pushrod lengths for the earlier engines. Most old Ford suppliers should have them. I think they were like 7 and 7/8ths long. The thicker one is used on the 8BA engines. The stroke is around .20 in.

Does this help?
