Fuel pump push rod bushing 8BA

By the way, valley full of liquid oil would be almost impossible...lack of the various baffel parts, though, will fill the valley with oil spray and thrown oil, different but very likely to result in both strange external leaks and increase oil burning from overwhelmed valve guides.
Nothing likely could pump liquid oil in great quantity up there, and valley could not hold liquid oil anyway without some very unusual plugging!
A 59 or earlier could have a collossal leak into valley via front regulator, but that would likely give about zero oil pressure and oil still could not fill the valley without odd plugging.
The baffles are intended to suppress excess vapor and thrown splashes of oil, which are plenty for major consequences.

That's the thing here though...the truck really doesn't burn any oil. No oil smoke at start up or while driving. I thought about that after....if I had a bunch of oil getting hung up in the valley it would probably smoke, right? Either way I can tell that this problem existed with the truck long before I got it based on the crusty oil leakage remnants on the back of the engine and all down the bell housing. Is it possible there is just a horrible, unrepairable crack somewhere?

You say there is "considerable blow by" in the engine.... fix that and the problem is cured if all other systems are ok.......Even when we welded a tube in the breather cap and one in the air cleaner connected by a rubber hose to draw the fumes back into the engine, it was not enough to control the oil build up in a short period of t;me after cleaning the outside of the engine....including the oil filler tube and breather cap...................

Good lord I think I fixed it! I pulled the original fuel pump pushrod out and it had an umbrella on it which I know isn't stock for an 8BA. It was however, the same length and same diameter as the new one I just bought. The old one was hollow and had two weep holes at the bottom and one at the top. I think it was filling up with oil as I was driving and spewing out the top after it got full. Must have been something someone pulled out of a parts bin.

FYI....in the posts above on this topic, someone posted a nice picture of the fuel pump stand (with warped base). This is NOT the correct stand for an 8BA motor. The one pictured is for the 35-48 motors which had a different breather system. Your motor should have a simple aluminum stand that ONLY holds the fuel pump (no breather, no cap, etc). I've included a pic of the 8BA stand. Your motor should have two pipes toward the front of the intake manifold on the driver's (LH) side. One sticks up about 10-12" and has a comb. breather cap/oil fill at the top. The other pipe is the "road draft tube" which snakes down the front of the engine and exits down under at the edge of the oil pan. Which setup is on that motor of yours?
