Fuel pump pressure?

Whenever my I take my flathead out on a hot day and shut it down for about 30 mins it won’t restart. Only enough fuel pumps in to fill the glass filter and that’s about it. Cool it down and it starts just fine. You guys think i should start by changing that pushrod? Thanks!

There should be fuel in the Carburettor enough to start from before the shut down ,remove the carb top and check the fuel level ,if it empty start looking at the pump ,the push rod should lift the pump just over a 1/4 'could also be the vacuum power valve leaking down around the threads

it quit right after the fuel in the carb was spent. I undid the fuel line and no fuel came out of the pump when I cranked it over. Gas tank was full. The car was parked on an incline, does that have any effect?

Loosen the pump stand and crank it over the pump should lift just over a 1'4,check the seal on the glass bowl ,remove the gasket and seal it in with a bead of silicone on the pump to gasket side ,refit the glass tighten it lightly till cured

Speaking of sealing the glass bowl to the fuel pump, I've had much better luck with cork gaskets than the neoprene ones. I know it shouldn't be this way, but I've had trouble with very small leaks with rubber gaskets that I haven't had with cork. I had one pump that wouldn't seal until I used wet-or-dry paper on my surface plate to make sure the lip of the glass bowl was flat with no nicks or scratches. Making sure there are no leaks around the glass bowl has served me well over the years.

It was pointed out by someone on here that the bowl surface warps ,on closer inspection that was the case on one I had ,I used the sealer on a cork gasket and it levelled it up .The next day I tightened it up and all is well
