Fuel Pump Location

Hi All,
I am running a Weber carb and was running the fuel pump inside the frame. I have change my exhaust manifold and now the pipes are to close to the fuel pump in the frame. Is it ok to mount the fuel pump on the firewall slightly higher level than the fuel line coming out of the tank? Or does it have to be below? If there are better ideas where to mount the pump than the location in my picture please let me know and if possible please provide a picture.

Thank you,
Denny

Hello, on my experience on British cars , the electric fuel pump like to push fuel rather than **** it ,pumps are usually located close to the fuel tank. On a Model A perhaps on the firewall?

Uh oh, I see the censorship is back, I guess I should have used the word push rather than **** !

So I have done it a couple ways, but I should mention that near the exhaust is not the preferred placement.

The horizontal placement just below the tank is good, and add in a heatshield to keep temps down.

I also have a rear tank in a coupe and that pump is mounted in the frame rail, again with a heat shield.

I find that electric pumps work best when mounted below the level of the fuel.
As to pushing or pulling fuel, it is moving fuel, it does not know the difference.

My fuel pump for my Weber is located in the line from the tank shut off to the fuel sediment bulb. (1930 car). I do not know the brand as it came in a box with the car. Some will object to it being inside the car but it has never been a problem. It keeps the line from the sediment bulb to the carburetor clean and straight forward. A short piece of rubber tubing at the carburetor isolates any vibration. I carry a spare line from the tank shut off to the sediment bulb in case the fuel pump should ever quit. One advantage of my fuel pump is that it shuts off the fuel supply when it is off, eliminating the need to shut off the valve under the tank.

My wife had a '61 Morris Minor , the electric fuel pump was located in the engine compartment, lower left on the firewall. The picture is not her car, just one from the web, showing actual location.

Big Hammer, No regulator. The fuel pump appears to have the correct pressure for the Weber. I have never measured the pressure.

When I purchased my Weber and fuel pump from Sammy at Arizona As, he told me that on 6V his fuel pump did not need a regulator. On 12V it did. My $0.02 worth.
