Fuel pump for a 32 v-8

Good morning Everyone!
Well it seems that each time I get close to driving my car something else breaks! Now the fuel pump is leaking. But when I looked at photos of a 32 fuel pump, mine doesn't even resemble a 32 fuel pump.
Can anyone please explain?
Do I possibly have another year or is it not a fuel pump?
Many thanks
Joanne

A 32 fuel pump bolts directly to the intake and has no fuel pump stand like your car does. Since you don't have a 32 intake, you don't need a 32 pump. You would need to change several things if you want proper 32 parts,--intake manifold, fuel pump, generator, oil fill tube to start with. ,
You can rebuild the later pump you have if you need to, parts are easy to find, unlike the different versions of the 32 pump.

Your fuel pump is probably leaking due to alcohol in the gas. Whether you buy or rebuild a pump, be sure the parts are fuel proof. Some vendors still have the non nitrile type on their shelves.

Ok well the best thing to do is to ship the whole fuel pump so I get exactly what I have right?

May well not be a 32 engine, might post some photos of the front and sides of the engine if you are interested in IDing it.

Note: Just noticed your separate post on the subject. Might want to include a more frontal photo.

Unfortunately the car is still in the shop! It has been there on going 2 years! EEK! So I don't have any frontal photos of the engine till Monday.

On the fuel pump issue, would guess a 35-36 vintage would work with the other components.

Joanne, Where do we start. The only thing I see that is correct is the air cleaner and fan. Do some research if you want a true '32 engine. If you just want to drive it and have some fun you should be ok after a few repairs. JimOH

OK Jim,
But I frankly think I am tapped out here! Financially & emotionally.
I need to get some hours behind the wheel as it has been simply way too long!
So I just need to get a fuel pump that works & try to drive it!
And it will always be hit & miss in getting parts cause it isn't all 1 year.
Right!

Joanne, you're almost there, but a fuel leak in the engine compartment is nothing to neglect. As has been posted already, a rebuild or even a spanking new pump is reasonably priced, but don't stop there... The rubber line leading to the pump may not be alcohol resistant, so take a look into that situation also.

OK THANKS ALAN!
So I guess I would have to say that having the leaky fuel pump was a good thing as now I have other things to do!
thanks a bunch!

Joanne, If you lived here in northern Ohio you would have so many of us V8'ers willing to help you with any problems you are having with your V8 Ford. I hope some of the guys in your area jump in to help if you want it. We all need some help from time to time so if some one offers help, take it. It makes everybody feel good.

While you are at you should replace the fuel line to the pump with one of the alcohol resistant ones advertised in the V8 Times (but probably also available else where). Check the remainder of the fuel line to see if someone put a section of rubber hose in anywhere (not original but common). If it has not been rebuilt recently with alcohol resistant gaskets the carb will probably be your next problem. It is good to hear from you again, just wish it was under happier circumstances.

Some of the parts are later than 32 but wouldn't be a problem getting parts so long as you identify what year to fit .It would be good if some Barner stepped up and gave a hand ,or maybe you could contact the V8 club Ted

them

The fuel pump with the glass bowl is from a later type flathead. You should be able to source one from any of the normal suppliers. If you are able to take good clear photos aof all the ancillaries (pump, intake manifold, carb, air filter, generator, water pumps), and post them here, Barners will be more than willing to ID the parts for you. No need to feel downhearted, we all love to help where we can.

Mart.

EDIT: I just saw the other post you made, and can see you are getting the answers you need.

Ok well I know the water pump was just replaced 3 months ago.
Frankly I think I need a numbered diagram so I can learn what these parts are called!
You know its the learning curve!
I will take photos of all the individual parts & start working to get this accomplished.
Thanks

Joanne,

I agree with Alan that perhaps you should stick to one thread at a time as you are getting answers to the same basic questions in two different places.
