Fuel Gauge

So, I am replacing the float, glass etc. on my fuel gauge. Andrews book instructs to remove the wire that the cork is attached to by knocking out the pin that secures it (see picture). This pin is in there and I don't want to go crazy trying to knock it out. Any ideas?

You should be able to install the parts you mentioned without removing that pin. Gar Williams
