Fuel gauge float wire shape

I just had my fuel tank re-soldered at the steering wheel mount due to a leak. I pulled the fuel gauge out to change out the crusty old cork and realized the wire is the wrong shape. Someone made it nearly straight....
Does anyone have a fuel gauge they could lay on a piece of grid paper so I can get the exact shape? Or do some measurements? Thanks
Curt

I could have posted a picture a few days ago for you, but photobucket messed up and switched me to their new host site, and it doesn't work for me.:mad::mad:

Today I signed up with Flickr, and I downloaded 5 new pictures to my account, but so far I don't see how to get the codes to post the pictures here.

Here's a picture I just took of my spare, which awaits restoring. The top of the picture faces the right side of the tank. When viewed horizontally the wire is flat, but can be bent to adjust the guage reading.

Clocey, make sure it is not a plastic lens, they turn brown & melt & surely would leak later. Both my cars had plastic. Bill W.

You guys are all GREAT! THANK YOU! I am not changing the lens for now, but likely will when I do a frame-off in a few years.
Thanks again

Thanks Tom I needed that. I have about 6 gauges with out floats, and all have the end of the wire missing. Need one for the model A pickup that I'm building. Now we can fix the best gauge for the truck.

I hope no one bent the wire yet, because I just found another guage and this is probably the most common shape. The sharp bends on the top guage are on my 1928 oval magnifying glass guage, and the soft bends are on my round flat glass guage. I do however have another oval guage which also has the rounded wire bends, so I can only assume the sharp bend was done in the earlier part of 1928, but would need to do more research to confirm that. The top of each guage shown faces the right side of the tank.

Also note the alignment tab on the bottom guage.
