Hey barners, iv'e been using metal fuel filters and thought about switching to plastic to see better fuel condition. what brand and part numbers you guys think are best.are there fuel pressure issues with some? thanks ,Tom.
Plastic ok, reported issues with glass. Flathead uel pressure never above 3 lbs, so no pressure issues either. Toss the chintzy spring clamps that come with filters and use the worm drive clamps instead.
From his post on the V8 Club forum, I think he intends to have the filter ahead of the fuel pump.
That puts the filter on the suction side of the pump. No issue with pressure, and should be no issue with the little vacuum that the 3psi pump is able to pull. I would think any filter you buy should be able to handle that. The potential problem is that the connections need to be air tight. The pump will find it easier to suck air before it sucks fuel.
JayChicago,my filter is before the fuel pump,no sediment bowl to see condition of fuel.never had any air leak so far on the '37.i dont use the clips that come with the metal filters,i use worm screw hose clamps.
