FSI Distributor

Does anyone have a video they can share on how to time a Model A with a FSI
Distributor 6 volt system? Or even a detailed instruction?
Please and thank you. Merry Christmas everyone!

Merry Christmas, FSI web site has what you need ! It took me a while to get around their site , it all there about timing and troubleshooting , enjoy driving around the site

FS ignition home page, upper left click on the 3 lines, click on about, click on the distributor you have, scroll down to the instructions for installing with your system. I got to the point on starting but my Weber Carburetor decided to leak . It’s basically finding TDC like for original distributors , installing the FSI , turning the body aligning the rotor to the #1 , please follow FSI instructions and there warnings as you may damage the electronics !

I had success first installing a nu-rex timing scale and finding TDC and then marking the crank pully at zero. Then I used a timing light to set the module or distributor body to TDC with the light.

Here's how I do mine.

For my engine configuration, Shawn @ FSI suggested I time to 5* BTDC (which gives his recommended overall advance after the automatic centrifugal kicks in, per how he set it up).

I purchased the entire distributor system with the original look distributor body, cap & rotor. Since the the locating pin on the underside of the dist body is not included, I make sure the dist body is held in place firmly using the side set screw, then I use this method successfully.

I have the Nu-Rex timing scale and timing wrench.

- Locate TDC using the timing pin and scale.

- Since the recommended setting for my engine is 5* BTDC, I rotate the crank pully timing mark to 5* BTDC on the scale.

- Then I follow the Nu-Rex wrench instructions to align the rotor to the first cylinder contact (effectively timing to 5* BTDC).

- Close up the cap and verify the timing with my induction timing light.

I am considering using Shawn's suggestion to slightly keyhole the plate hold down screw hole to allow for a small spark lever adjustment to slightly retard the spark when going up higher sloping hills to avoid pinging. Haven't gotten the courage yet to modify the hole
