Fsi distributor shaft

Hi, I’m installing a fsi distributor in a 31. I pulled the original distributor out and it has a long one piece shaft. Do I need to buy a new shaft with a slot in either end to drive it? This is my first time pulling a distributor. Thanks!

That’s what I was thinking. Got a spare motor out back so I pulled that distributor and it has that piece so guess I’m ok. Thank you I’m learning about these cars.

Since you've got one you're good to go. You could also have cut the long shaft to the length you need and hacksaw a slot in it. It's more work and requires some degree of accuracy but you don't have to wait for one to show up in the mail.

Learning about these cars is a life long experience. After 60 years I am still learning.
