Finally was successful at removing the perch bolts from my axle.Several requested that I tell how this process went for me.I will say that I used the good information provided by those who posted and some of my own ideas.
I soaked the area around the perch bolts with penetrating oil and waited several days,it may have helped a bit,but hard to tell.Next I found a nut that threaded onto the perch bolt ,and threaded it on about half way,up the nut.I then threaded another short bolt into this until it contacted the end of the perch bolt.Having done this I put the axle into a large vise upside down and as close to the perch as possible. With this in place I heated the area of the axle adjacent to the bolt using a welders rosebud torch, but only until the temp.was just below red heat. With everything heated and in place I whacked the drive bolt on the end with a sledge hammer, about three times, and the bolt moved out about a quarter inch. Finally I removed the nut and drive bolt but using a smaller bolt kept whacking it on the end ,which slowly drove the perch bolt out.
The bolt was very difficult to remove and resisted right to the end.The thread area was damaged ,but is repairable.all in all quite the learning experience. Many Thanks to those who offered help.Dan
