Frozen rear wheels/brakes

Hello all, just picked up a Model A frame (minus body). Seller told me the rear was locked up before I bought it, so no surprise. We got it on trailer and now at home I want to get it off the trailer and roll it around.

Searched the forum but found no real good answers.

How do I get the rear end to "unlock"... I have removed the brake hardware connections (no help there).

Thanks for any help you can toss my way.

PS: I am new to Model A thing, so be kind.

have you yet removed the drum to see if the E_Brake has frozen to anything and you might have to remove the brake shoes totally to unfreeze

Not quite sure what you mean. It sounds as though you've removed the brake rod clevis's. Have you backed off the brake adjusters, if not, you need to and then rap the backing plate with a hammer around the arms and adjuster to try and get the shoes and springs to ' maybe ' retract a bit. Then you'll probably have to remove/pull the drums. You'll probably need a ' real ' puller for that. Do you have a good repair manual ?

I've seen ants nest in the brakes and lock the wheels. I unlocked an old jeep pick up with a few cans of WD 40 and a two pound hammer . I just kept tapping the backing plates and drums with the hammer and spraying WD. After a while ant nest dirt started to come out and I could soon move the drums. I would back the adjuster wedges all the way back. If the brake levers won't move, spray a good penetrant at the levers. I had to oil and gently tap the brake lever on my roadster, when I first got it.
