Frontenac Head

I'm into early v8s and not too familiar with Ts. Any idea as to the value of a Frontenac head, complete with the cast iron header , aluminum valve cover and all hardware except two push rods. The head has been welded ( brazed ) at sometime in it's past but has obviously run since the welding. Also the header has excellent threads where the exhaust pipe clamp screws on. Thanks : Bruce

It's got an " MF " cast into the top centre surface of the head towards the intake side, and " FRONTENAC" cast into both top outside edges of the cast aluminum valve cover. Also the cast iron header has a " 23 " cast into it near the back port. Thanks : Bruce

It should have a serial number on top where to valve cover gasket would go, with a T, S, or R? It could have 1 Carb. mounting, or two if it is a Two hole, it is a S-R.

That head was used on a stock Model T in its time, it had the lowest compression of the 4, and not built for racing. They are the most trouble free of any of the brands, except some of the RAJO's.

If it has repairs on it as you said, and two push rods missing, that changes pricing, some of the other guys may know, if I said it would be an uninformed guess , and especially in this economy. Herm.

That may not be the "prefered" head for racing.but don't fool yourself.I have been better than 80mph with PLENTY of throttle to go with a tubular header and winfield "S" carb in a speedster. They are a big step up the food chain compared with anything considered stock t. Haha yea it was a thrill.thinking about taking it to bonneville......but them buffalo wires worry us.....

Has ruxtel od...and big cam and plenty of comp....and other mods.my point is that it is a major step up from stock t.

Again, thanks everyone. I'm having the two push rods made up at a local machine shop. Where do I find a head gasket and valve cover gasket? Also what are the valve lash settings? Bruce
