i put tube shocks on my 41 coupe ,NOS kit on ebay, corners better, the bolt spacing for the upper brackets are different from 42-48 if i remember correctly
Assume you are referring to the brackets, as you can read the shock number off the shock in the photo.
Is the number 38080? I double clicked on photo but not sure.
My setup looks like what oldskool has. I made my own brackets. Actually I think I used oldskool's pics to design mine. The hard part is the fact that lower mount is a taper fit.
I noticed in your picture that there are two mounting holes. I tried a set-up like that but the bolt holes developed cracks outward from the frame holes. I welded a plate over the cracks and reverted back to stock shocks. Believe because there were two bolts in line, the shock action tended to twist the mount.Oldschool, Please post the brand and part numbers for those shocks, if it's not to bothersome. I think 1940 is the same. Thanks.
I took a look at your pic again and I see the shocks attach to the original dogleg hole. Mine attached to the axle and then tried to the shackle. Yours is more vertical than mine. That may be why my frame cracked.oldskool: Thanks for going under the car for the numbers.
fordor41: Those cracks seem odd. Haven't had any cracks during the 63 years those brackets have been on the car. Thank goodness.
