I have a 1941 Sedan Delivery
wish to find out what are the dimensions between spring shackles
loaded on vehicle and unloaded off vehicle
what should be correct number of leaf springs in front & also rear spring

The GREEN BIBLE on page 174 shows that the 1940 Ford sedan delivery station wagon and commercial (90 and 100 HP) used front spring # 01A-5310-C with 11 leafs.

On page 190 the GREEN BIBLE shows that front spring # 01T-5310, 11 leaf front spring was used on trucks, except 122 in. and COE in 1940 and 41.

Same book shows that rear spring assembly # 78 5560-C, 12 leaf spring without cover was used on 1937-41 Ford sedan dellivery.

Dimensions you desire are not listed. Perhaps others will chime in.

I believe that you're going to find that the LOADED dimension will change as the spring deflects & retracts, as if the weight in the car changed....full/empty gas tank, for instance, or maybe even a heavy, modified floor over the years.

I believe that you will also find variations in the UNLOADED spring dimension (spring sitting on floor), just because of the very nature of the process of manufacturing springs.

I also believe that you should feel happy if your shackles angle downward at roughly 45º when the vehicle is at rest, especially in the front, and LOADED of course. If they hang more VERTICALLY, the spring is showing signs of being worn-out, especially in a stock, no-load situation. DD
