I am reupholstering the front seat of my 1931 Slant Window Model A On the inside of the sides the steel tub there are four rivets with slots on the floor of the tub. I imagine there should be a piece of wood covering the slots and held in place by the rivets. Is this correct? Any pictures would be very helpful...Thanks in advance mike m

Can these holes be used for the seat adjustment slides? Years ago, when I did mine, my seat adjuster slides where never removed from the bottom of the seat tub. Good luck maybe someone else will chime in.

Thanks Herb. I think the slots were used to tack the upholstery around the bottom of the seat. The rivets where there to hold a tacking strip in place on each side of the seat. Just my guess. Will see if I hear any other comments Thanks for you input

I also notice that the left and right sides of the seat bucket are not stamped the same. Tabs are in different positions. Does anyone have some info on the reason for this ? I can post some pics ..Thanks in advance

My 1931 Slant Windshield Town Sedan had been reupholstered at some point with a LaBaron Bonney kit. The tack strip is attached to the tub with round head screws with the best I can feel a barrel nut on the underside. (Perhaps they were once riveted) The slots under the pan were used to allow the fabric to be tacked to the strip. The top is stapled but I'm sure it was tacked originally. I don't see any difference in the stamping from side to side. (This is one of the earlier Slant Windshield's) I hope this is the area you are interested in.

Thanks for the pics and the comments. I made some wood strips to put in place. Will check the height to make sure they don't interfere with the bottom cushion. Using beech wood Suppose to be good for tacking. No splitting Thanks again
