Front cross member

Thanks Bob C for the link. It was interesting, however I did not see any mention of the cross member for and aft width being changed or the rivet spacing being changed. In my search for another cross member it became obvious from actual measuring that there is two different cross member for and aft witdths and rivet spaciing. Any radiator will fit the recessed pad but only the short one will fit the flush pad.

I know you all are getting tired of my posts but here is one more question. In the aircraft industry all rivets are bucked with a flat bucking bar to get the desired 1 1/2 diameter and 1/2 diameter tall tail. I know this isn't a 747 but why all the procedures to produce a different tail shape? Is is to try and replicate Fords rivets or is there a stuctural reason for this steel application? Also, what degree is the front crossmember frame counter sink and if hammered from the top is the top or bottom of the countersink hole used for unbucked rivet length?

I'm not sure I understand the question, but isn't the top of the rivet flush with the frame. I haven't done any frame riveting, but it would seem the bottom would be bucked and the top driven flat while red hot.

There are various patterns to Ford's original rivets, and these are copied so they resemble original rivets for high points judging.

The top frame rivets are countersunk to apparantly a random depth and angle. I was going to put countersunk rivets from the top down. I decided to do it a little different then that as in my thread of cross member completed. Thanks
