Can someone tell me what the triangular piece is between the fog lamps? What purpose does it serve?

I have one of those, its made out of 3/4 or 7/8 round bar, chromed.
Its stuffed up on my mezzanine floor.

It is an aftermarket device, designed to slow down the rate of crunch when running into the rear of the car in front of you. Not very effective, however.

I have an after market one on Rusty. Doubt it would offer much protection for the grille. I use it to hang a desert water bag on at the 4th of July car show I go to.

I can't say it adds any esthsetic looks to the otherwise great look of a '33 or '34 Ford.. Beauty is in the eye of the beholder.

I fully agree, and, I can't see where it would really protect that much a slight bump will just knock it into the grille anyway...
We had one years ago and took it off. Came on the car when we bought it.
The best protection is, don't run into somebody:)

Thanks, Everyone. I can't say I'm a fan either. It was on the car when I bought it and I just left it. As I get things done to the car (more important things first) I start on the trivial things. And here we are! I'm glad to know it was not Ford issued so that if I take it off I'm keeping (or returning) the car stock.

You didn't have to twist my arm too much. Added the greyhound and took off the grille guard. Thanks for all the input.

Much better. How do you like that little peep mirror? Can you see much out of it?

It's actually my primary mirror. I hated it when I first got the car until I realized it was positioned upside down. When I flipped it 180 degrees and it hung down a little lower, it made a world of difference.
