Front brake not releasing

went to move the A and felt as if something was dragging. left front brake wont release after pedal is applied. I can rotate the brake arm with a wrench and get it to release. the left side releases as soon as the pedal is released. its late and wont tear into it until tomorrow. there is a grease fitting on the shaft could it be that easy? probably not. anyone have an idea what I should be looking at, is the brake arm spring loaded to return? thanks for any pre-teardown advice.

could be your backing plate bolts are loose and when stopping the plate moves slightly and binds the actuating pin. take the drum off, check things, make sure the backing plate bolts are tight. my bet is there. Also, your brake springs need to be of good quality and tension... wedge moves freely, etc.

By that statement, can I assume you haven't greased it?
Make sure all moving parts are lubed.

Could be a spring has broken, have you pulled the drum and see what is going on when someone pushes the pedal for you? All kinds of little things might combine as well, another adventure!

problem identified. the cup on the end of the brake lever wore out and put the brake rod in a bind enough to override the brake spring tension. the owner before me did a complete brake job everything is new under the drum. guess he never looked at that. now the search begins for the part. it don't get any better than this, NO BRAKE FLUID spilled. ha.
