What size socket does one use to adjust the brakes on a model A.

Mine have been some what rounded off, looks like a 7/16 square socket would work. Did not want to buy one until I am sure I can make it work.

Normally it's a 1/2in square socket

Yes, it is a 7/16" square. A 8 point, 1/2" drive socket works well with a 1/2" rachet. Sears probably has 8 point sockets or a farm store.

Use a 7/16" wrench or square socket (four or eight pointed). Forget the 1/2" socket. That's probably how it got rounded off in the first place by someone in the past using a 1/2" socket.

Bratton's has the correct socket if you can't find one elsewhere. https://www.brattons.com/brake-adjusting-wedge-socket.html

Keep an eye on ebay, as the proper period wrenches show up there. Ford wrench #267. Says "Ford Brakes". One end is 7/16" other end 1/2" both 8 point. 11" long.

I must be lucky (:p:D) as the 7/16" open end works great..........
Paul in CT

I tried that Paul, the wedge is stuck, the wrench wanted to round the wedge even more. I may have to put some heat to it with the proper socket.

Thanks for all the advice.
