Front Bearing Grease Cup

I did not realize that the grease cup on the front hub was not exactly optional, but something Henry didn't add until 1931. I've put them in dozens of times with no trouble, but I just put new cast iron brake drums on my car and spent more time getting those d---- things in than. . . . Let's just say I spent a lot of time doing it. I finally ended up grinding some off the retaining washers, which I now see in the Snyder's catalogue (way late!), is apparently standard procedure, though I still don't know why I never had this trouble before. The new drums couldn't have a smaller opening, because the bearing races go in the same size hole they came out of! Has anybody else ever had this problem?

Don't know about the repro caps for the Model A, but the factory push-in dust caps on other cars & trucks usually had the end rolled-over on a slight inward taper, to facilitate installation.

I have a set to go on my '28, but I want to get an extra set of washers to grind-down, and save my originals.
