Free iPhone App for Model A Drivers

A31Woody,

Thanks for a pretty cool app.

If you are looking for features to add, it would be great to add the ability to send SMS text messages to everyone who is on a tour with you.

So I wasn't going to bring this up yet, but since you did haha. My current project that I have been building since I completed V1 of A-Speed is an online platform specifically built for volunteer run car clubs. https://www.clubelfi.com

I am investigating group SMS as part of this. There are costs involved and regulations that I need to get past, but it is doable, at least in the US.

Because of the infrastructure costs involved, it unfortunately won't be a free platform, but I will keep it manageable for those who decide to use it.

Just installed and set set it up. Haven't tried it yet but it looks impressive. I was happy to see an option for speed in km/hr, but one thing I noticed is that we in Canada measure fuel economy in litres/100 km rather than km/liter. I think most other metric countries are the same.

Thanks for letting me know. I will get that fixed in an update.

Watched your videos - holy moly - you put a lot into this!

Many things I would be very happy to know and track.

Really hope you are considering the "other" version :)

Version 1.1 for iOS is now available in the App Store. You should be prompted to update, but feel free to do it proactively.

https://apps.apple.com/app/id6768415542

What's New in Version 1.1

• Added Garage support for multiple vehicle profiles
• Quickly switch between vehicles while keeping each vehicle's settings and data separate
• Added international fuel economy units, including US MPG, Imperial MPG, L/100 km, and km/L
• Units now default based on your region while remaining fully customizable
• Fixed an issue that could cause lifetime mileage to be counted twice
• Additional refinements and bug fixes

I have a working prototype of the Android version working in an emulator. I need to get a test phone somehow in order to get to the next level and get it released. Stay tuned!

Dang it! Just recycled an older Samsung phone.

Come on somebody near Sunnyvale, CA with an Android phone hanging around - get it over to A31Woody so he can continue his efforts for us heathens using Android :D

@A31Woody - perhaps the basic requirements for what you'd need, particularly the Android version needed on the phone.

Thanks for all you are doing on this - an example of what makes this community great!

BTW - really like your Woody - one of my dream vehicles (if I ever find that elusive vat of money).

Looking forward to A-Speed for Android

Thank you for making this app for the Model A community, Brian. But to be honest, for myself, I don't see me using it very often. I have a Garmin GPS which tells me most of the info plus tells me where to go.

I don't have a Garmin GPS - but I do have a WIFE that tells me where to go! :)

Ordered a suction cup mount for the windshield so I can use it easier than sitting on the seat.
One thing I noticed is it has a Best 1/8 and 1/4 mile time. Also a best to 60
I'd suggest add a Best 1/10 (528 feet) mile since that is what most of the Model A hill climbs run. Would 0-40 or 0-50 be more realistic?

That is really good feedback. I have not looked into hill climb at all and didn't know the distance. Would total elevation also be a good metric for that?

Thinking about:
Best 1/10
Last 1/10
Top speed during 1/10
Total elevation dur 1/10

I had trouble with the suction cup falling off my window. It might work better for you. I ended up using one of these in each of my cars and it works great + I can stick it right next to the stock gauges for easy visibility. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0DM964RZR?tag=atomicindus08-20

Great looking app, wish it had included AA trucks and gear speeds and tire size also, thanks for all your efforts in putting this together.

The app is designed for Model A’s. That being said your 4th gear is still 1:1, you can enter custom tire size and rear end ratio in settings and still get an accurate RPM estimate while in 4th / direct. The app will tell you that you are in 3rd.

A-Speed Version 1.2 is now live in the Apple App Store. If you already have A-Speed installed on your phone, it will update via the normal update process or you can go to the App Store and update manually.

If you don't have it installed, go to https://www.a-speed.com/ for more information on the app and a link to download.

Thanks everyone for their overwhelming support. I really appreciate it!

Android version is on the way. Message me if you would like an early look and get a link to download the beta version.

New in A-Speed iOS V1.2:

• Brand-new Sport Mode with 0–40, 0–60, 1/10, 1/8 and 1/4 mile performance testing. Enable Sport Mode in Settings.

• 15 authentic Model A dashboard color themes inspired by original Ford colors.

• Multi-vehicle garage lets you save and quickly switch between multiple vehicles.

• 15 new achievements to discover as you drive.

• Improved Setup Wizard with expanded vehicle configuration and clearer guidance.

• Redesigned Settings organized into Vehicle Setup, App Settings, Support and Data sections.

Improved

Thank you for creating this APP!

But I am cheating. I'm using it for my Model T's and my Model A. I have 2 Model T's that are in the years that have no speedometer. So, I used an app for bicycle. Boring digital readout, no odometer, no multiple vehicles.

Yours has such a nice display and can keep track of mileage. I used your custom settings for rear end and tire size. And the Dashboard color. Any color you want as long as it's NOT black! Just kidding!

I'm really not concerned with RPM. There is that small problem that I don't have a third gear in the T's. But I configured the shift point for first to second and second to third both to 12 mph. You corrected that to second to third at 13 mph. Close enough and I get to 1:1 at 13 mph.

So, well done you! And thanks for sharing.

Thanks so much for the kind words. I've been kicking around the idea of making a T mode on the App. I need to do some research on gear ratios, etc., but it should not be too difficult to put into the next update.
