Free iPhone App for Model A Drivers

That's just your car telling you it's time for a drive! :D I went back and forth about making it "idle" or having it show zero at a standstill. There are downsides to both options.

as i assume ou are not actually measuring the engine rpm, i vote for 'idling' if speed = 0. anything else is confusing...

Now it is available in the Apple Store in Switzerland, thanks
Just downloaded it and I like the look and feel very much. Functions are to be used/tested soon ;-)

Hello A31WOODY,
I downloaded the app and took my I Phone out for a spin in my Model A.
I was impressed. As soon as the car started moving the app kicked in.
It worked just as you described. Car starts moving and the speedometer registers along with the RPMs. The milage feature is also remarkable.
Thank you for developing this app!!!!

You’ll have to completely close the app to stop the trip OD from adding in your steps.

iPhone X and later
From the Home Screen, swipe up from the bottom of the screen and pause in the middle of the screen.
Swipe right or left to find the app that you want to close.
Swipe up on the app's preview to close the app.

I assume it is back-calculated from speed and axle ratio, tire diam, etc.
It has to be there is no connection to measure RPM . The APP does the math for you by using the knowns you input - gear ratio and tire size. It takes the variable (MPH) from the GPS and gives you the answer WHEN MOVING.
When stopped the GPS is not providing a speed and the writer of the APP has it display a typical Model A idle RPM.
IMO - this makes more sense than showing 0 since when your stopped your car is probably running.

After all Henry didn't install the auto start/stop feature until 2012.

Ford's Auto Start-Stop feature (which shuts the engine off while stopped and restarts it when releasing the brake) was first announced for U.S. consumer vehicles in December 2010, arriving in 2012 models.

Is there any way to run this on the older yet still supported iOS 18.7.8? I really don’t want to update to the new iOS 26 version that will kill my battery faster because of the added visual stuff.

Not at this point. I’ll add backwards compatibility to the list of things to look in to though.

I finished building multi-vehicle support and fixed a bug that was doubling the lifetime miles earned. Before I release the update, I need a few people to test it in the wild over the next few days.

If you're interested in testing multi-vehicle support and will add an additional vehicle (real or pretend) and provide feedback, DM me your email and I'll send you a link to the Alpha release.

Any data you currently have in the app will be preserved, the Alpha will write over the production app and keep all settings, etc. When you move back to the production build, it will do the same thing.

I’ve used for a couple of hundred miles, works pretty close to speed limit radar signs! As long as I’m getting a signal with Verizon, good readout. Thanks for the app.

A31Woody,

Thanks for a pretty cool app.

If you are looking for features to add, it would be great to add the ability to send SMS text messages to everyone who is on a tour with you.
