FrankWest is gone?

And why was ken ct. Banned? If none of my business I totaly understand.. a bit rough when I communicated with him while he was rebuilding my 50 Merc carb and fuel pump. No reason to be banned though.? Randy
If I remember correctly ken ct was involved in a dispute with another member about the quality of a set of carbs that Ken sold. Got pretty ugly out in the open and eventually Ryan stepped in and then the end result was Ken being banned. As far as Frank goes, it did seem as though he asked a lot of basic questions but isn't that what this forum is all about? Members gaining knowledge from other members? Not everyone knows as much about carbs like Uncle Max or knows as much about flatheads as Ol' Ron but we all have one thing in common, we all like old Fords. Just my .02 worth.

V8coupeman made a comment on one of his posts and he(FrankWest) did not respond nicely so maybe was reported to Ryan.

Ken ct was really short on couth. He knew his stuff but didn't know the subtle parts of written communication like don't explode when you read something you don't agree with and be humble when you're wrong.

For newbies, like me, Ken ct came across like another upstanding pro like Uncle Max, Charlie ny, and several others, he was not, it was all about the $money$. The word Spray Bomb comes to mind! One thing he loved was Free! parts, especially fuel pumps.

I have a picture I saved of Ken Ct sitting next to his motor home at a swap meet. Very prominent in the window of his motor home was a sign in LARGE letters that said "Caveat Emptor". Why anyone would do business with him is beyond my understanding. Let him prey on the unsuspecting folks on the EFV8CA site.

Just shows how gullible some people can be. The picture was Photoshopped.
This is the original one.

These days, how can we know which one is "photo-shopped"? I followed the whole exchange about the Stromberg 81's and I know which side I'm on.

This is getting to be too O/T. I still wonder what Frank did; anybody know?

I hope he is back. He and I have several things in common. Called me "model B brother". Both of us have near zero background in mechanics and fell in love with early Fords at a not very young age. He spent his life fixing watches and I did - and still do - helping sick people. Our learning curve about car restoration is very slowly taking off and frequently feel overwhelmed with many simple things that most of the car guys in this forum find so natural. It is clear that all of the veteran FordBarners know a lot about these cars and I try to apply all they have to say, regardless of the occasional abrasive statements I see. The Barn is a lot more productive for my goal of learning and restoring my early Ford if I totally stay away from any controversial personal statements. I know FrankWest never meant any wrong and his simple, straightforward and sometimes even naive style was always generating many informative answers from a lot of sympathetic Barners who showed patience and willingness to teach us. Hope you are back model B brother ! Manuel

The best way to learn auto mechanics is getting back to simplicity. The early Fords are about as simple as it gets. Model T cars are more complicated with their dynamo and buz box coils.

Now learning social graces can be a lot more difficult for folks, especially if they get frustrated. Auto mechanics still frustrates me now and then but I learned not to throw things a long time a go. It's just counter productive.

Not only very eloquently, but also quite fluently, and far more grammatically correctly than a few of our local folks with questionable communication issues. DD

Frank West came across to me as a very nice man. He was a watch maker by trade and as such was capable of understanding and repairing mechanical contraptions but was just not educated on motor cars. He asked a lot of questions and appreciated the help that ford barners gave him. I guess he posted something that was outside the rules but Im sure he did not mean to offend anyone or even realise he had strayed off course and risk being banned. Surely if someone posts an unacceptable item on The Barn then a once only warning could be given. I tried to help Frank with his electrical problems which was rather difficult and frustrating at times but he was trying hard to sort out his pride and joy, the 1933 4 cylinder standard four door sedan. I will miss him on the barn and wish him very good luck in the future. Ryan, please consider giving Frank West another chance. Best regards, Kevin.

Sorry guys my post was obviously not clear enough.
I was asking if, for Doctor's Ford (Manuel)(and for his friend FrankWest) if they were communicating in a language that is not their first language, because I wondered if Frank West may have been disadvantaged because of that.

I thought that Manuel had written his post well, in defence of his friend, and had no idea that I was coming across as rude.

In my ignorance, I do not know what the national language of Paraguay is (or even if Frank West was from there as well) but I suspect it is not English.
