Frames

Not sure where you are located, what your project is or how zealous your state mvd and law enforcement authorities are... but just in case

If you're considering using the whole frame it should have a serial number on it, usually in more than one place. Having an ownership title that matches the frame number will make things much easier when the time comes to register or re-sell the car.

All 1954, '55 and '56 Ford full size sedan frames are identical, regardless of 2-dr or 4-dr. The 2-dr hardtop frames are different from the sedans and the wagon model frames are different at the rear, besides the wagons having heavier front springs, 7-leaf rear springs in lieu of 5-leaf for the car models and the wagon has a heavier front anti-sway bar.
transmission crossmembers and driveshaft lengths vary across the spectrum depending on engine/transmissions used. Wagon models had an integral housing rearend rather than a banjo housing type.
