New to this sight. I'm looking for dimensions and pictures of a 1950 F3 (Mercury M68) rear frame section. Mine was cut short to install a dump box and i am putting the original box back down where it belongs. Thanks

Stu,
Thanks so much for the quick reply. Is it possible to have more pics of the rear section and some of how the spare tire is mounted as well as measurements maybe from the shackle back??? Anything is greatly appreciated. Thanks again, Pierre

Here are more pics. I'll get some measurements in the morning. Your spare hanger will be different than the one I used. My truck is a M-H having dished Budds where yours will use a standard F-2/F-3 hanger. Mine is a big truck hanger, but since installing it I've learned that mine too should have the standard hanger. Oh well. Stu

Ok, thanks, is the spare tire the one that you can get that is currently being reproduced. My son just turned 16 and he purchased the truck with his lawn cutting money from the last 3 years. I am helping him with the complete restoration. He wants to make it as original as possible. We are now at the removal of the cab and then getting to the frame. I hope you don't mind if i pick your brain or ask for picks. The truck was complete minus the tailgate and i found one last night. It is actually a Mercury M68 and I understand that the F3 is the Ford version with everything being the same except some trim and marker lights. It looks like your truck is coming along very nicely.

Nope, you'll find that painfully little is reproduced for the F-3s. It makes life more interesting tracking down pieces. Where's the challenge having a dozen catalogs with every F-1 piece you need.

The below pic shows the correct F-3 hanger in the middle. It's the same size as the big truck hanger, just has the cage instead of affixed lug bolts. It's wider than the F-1 hanger. The third one is a later F-250 hanger.

At some point your attention should be directed to your truck's 17" wheels. They are two piece, today called widow makers. The trade name for the killer outer rims is Firestone RH-5°. A Google search will yield a lot of info and pictures. Stu
