Frame question

I restored a 1951 Ford F-3. I have spent a fortune restoring this truck:( In the middle of the project we found the frame had been repaired above the rear spring on the passenger side of the truck.:mad: It is a very good repair but none the less a repair. :rolleyes: I can buy another frame off a 1951 F-2 and put it in my garage. Cost delivered to me would be about $500

My questions:

Does the frame repair devalue the restored truck?

Will the F-2 frame fit the F-3 truck?

Would it be wise to buy the F-2 frame and swap them out at a later date?

Would the cost of lifting the truck off the old frame, along with the expense of the good frame, justify doing it.

How complicated is it to lift the truck off the old frame and place it on the good frame?

Or should I just buy the good frame, and throw it in with a sale, if I decide to sell the truck?

Thanks for all your input here..

Oh, btw, I will post pics of the restoration next week:)

Brien, you say it is "a very good repair", so it is my opinion that it wouldn't affect the value except for its value to you. Should you decide to go through with the frame swap, you should know that while a truck frame-off is easier than a passenger car, the expense and work involved seems excessive for little gain.

Thanks Gentlemen;

Yes the repair is great so I guess I will leave it alone since I just found out I have four widow maker rims, all in good shape, but I should replace for safety reasons. Town Fair Tire in CT has quoted me $1600:eek: to buy four Craegar rims @ 17" and four 17" Master Crafter Courser tires @ 235.80 R-17. I have to shop this but $400 per wheel seems reasonable to me. No less an expensive hit to my wallet, but reasonable in cost, but I will still shop this first price quote.

Thanks for the input gentlemen.
