Frame Parts

As I am disassembling my 39 P/U for restoration, I find the frame in terrible shape. Are parts available to effect repairs or does one have to fabricate themselves? The x pieces with the holes cut in them are rusted and banged up where they join the side rails going aft. Also the cross braces are missing from the middle, probably during an exhaust system install. Of course there is the usual rust from nearly seventy five years of working life. I feel your pain old truck.

Does anyone have any extra parts or know of a source for these frame pieces? If not, I guess I will just have to do my version of parts making.

I think the 39 P/U frame is the same as the 35-40 car frame except for some minor details & maybe some body mounting bolt holes.

Hi John, Precision Coach Works makes replacement sections for these frames. I see their advertisements in old car magazines. The EFV8C/A V8 Times magazine and Hemmings Mtr News are two that come to mind. You could also Google their name to get contact information. Good luck, John

I had to make similar repairs to my 39 pickup frame. The rest of the guys are right. Call Precision Coach Works for your frame repair parts. When we were done you could not tell we even patched the frame. Very good products.

The Portlander can help you on youre parts, he's been through this on his 39 pickup. You 2 can compaire engines, I had something to do with both of them.. Walt

Hi Bruce, Sorry to hear of your dads passing.
I am the worlds slowest typer on this little smart phone key pad. When I started my reply, no one else had posted a reply. By the time I finished and hit send two others had replied before me with some of the same info :). Almost looked like I had copied your response and posted it under my name, lol :D. Have been down with flu for almost three weeks now but seem to be on the mend. I am hoping to make Rhinebeck again this year. Maybe I'll spot that shopping cart of yours with the canoe push/pull handle :D.
