Guy's:
Trying to identify all the frame holes, what they are for, and what
size bolt. I have 4 pics with the holes circled, and marked. I have
identified most, but still need help.
I think 1, and 2 are proably alternate hood hold down options?

Thank's, Rich

4, 5 and 6 are for connecting the engine pans. Looks like a modified front crossmember where the radiator sits. 9 is for the muffler clamp. 10 is for a body bolt. The ones used varies with the body style. 12 is used to bolt the rear bumper brackets. Two holes close to gether on the rear cross member are also used with the rear bumper bracket.

The standards have a picture, I beleive that has that info. I'm out of state and not near my books so i can't post the picture.

Wonder why they modified the front cross member? Maybe to get a 30-31
radiator to fit a 28-29 frame:confused:

Your frame is (appears to be) an April of 1930 through 1931 as it has the new style emergency brake cross shaft holes punched into the side of the frame...What make you think it is a 28-29 frame?

The front cross member looks correct for this frame as the radiator mounting pads are of the lowered type...HOWEVER they look a little deep from this angle than the original (as Foxfire42 indicated)...do they not?!

Also, the center cross member also gave it away with those "leaf" type punched out holes.

Do you know what the punched-out slug was used for?

They were used to make the brackets for the front brake rod springs.

Thank's a lot for the help Guy's! So the only thing holding the
aprons on are the body mount holes? There are no dedicated
seperate attachment holes for the aprons?

Thank's again, Rich

Actually there are a couple special carriage bolts which have a large diameter thin curved head, which fit through the aprons and frame. I was installing one about 5 years ago and the bolt broke before I even had it tight. Hopefully you can find or save your originals, but repro's are sold by most vendors.

Thank's Tom, I haven't bought aprons yet ,just trying to plan ahead.
Do you see in the above pics which holes are used for the carriage
bolts?

You should see a couple small 1/4" holes on the top side of each frame rail for the special bolts. I don't do much body work and can't tell you the exact location, but it should be obvious once you lay the aprons of the frame.

Thank's Tom, I believe I have located the holes. I went To
Mac's site, and found the special bolts you mentioned.
