Frame assembly tips

I have a 1934 frame that has been taken completely apart and sandblasted. Any methods or tips in reassembly would be appreciated. Thanks is advance for any any all information

It should be put together with rivets and not bolts. Rivets swell when bucked and fill the entire hole. Bolts only pull the two pieces together and can move from side to side opening up the hole.

Yes, rivets for sure. If you've painted it, remove the paint from the holes. The rails should be checked against each other for straightness, then clamped into a carefully laid out jig prior to riveting. All adjustments need to be made before any rivets are set.

Bill and ford38 - what have you found to be the best method for setting the rivets? Thanks for the advice to this point.

After all members are lined up and bolted together, remove one at a time and replace with, and set that rivet. My experience is with smaller rivets but the instructions furnished by Big Flats makes a lot of sense, and can be done by anyone who at least has an aceteline torch. An air tool is a damn good thing to have also unless you're very fast with a BFH.

c clamp a buck plate for the under side, . air hammer with a flat 1in head, that you can concave (ream out with reamer bit)to make into a round head , just did mine last week,,, , put the round head in from under side, heat redddd hotttt and drive it home from the top,,, it will be round on both sides ,, per henry ! ps. oh, like ford38v8 said one at a time

I suggest you contact Karl Wescott; Wescott Fiberglass. They have original blueprints of the frame with measurements.
