Fordomatic to 8BA adapter

Is there an adapter source for mounting a Fordomatic transmission to an 8BA (8RT) engine in a 1950 F1?

There is a C4 adapter to a flathead which may interest you. An original 51-53 Fordo may be what you need, but I think you will have a problem with the converter going into the crank unless the 8BA is a 51 which may have the larger opening in the crank..

The Fordomatic, or any other automatic, does not fit into an F-1 without cutting the cross member and fabricating your own rear mount. If you are still committed I suggest getting a complete transmission with bell housing as a starting point, and seeing what other modifications are required.

Speedway has a complete kit for a C4/8BA you could look into. I have no doubt that 38 is correct however but that is a far from insurmountable problem

If you decide to go with a Ford-o-matic, make you you get the FOM specific starter and starter plate. They are different from the manual transmission units.

If contemplating any automatic conversion, I would strongly recommend a more modern unit just due to the difficulty in finding good hard parts for the 1P series of Borg Warner/Ford-O-Matic transmissions. The size of the bolt together torque converter is the other reason plus the fact that they were air cooled. The C4 is a very good unit to use.

That pedal and trans mount cross member in the bonus built pickups is a big factor in any change of transmissions in these old trucks. It can be done and is much easier in the early F1/F2 types. The F100 of 1953 is completely different since the rear transmission mounts were on the bell housing.
