FordBarn access has been hit-and-miss for me while in China; when in doubt us VPN.
There are three reasons why there are no antique cars in China:
a) In 1931, there was one car for every 5 persons in the USA, but in China one for every 10,000 persons. So even though (then as now) China was four times the population of the USA (125M vs. 500M), there were still then 500 times total as many cars in the USA as China (22M USA vs. 47k China). We sometimes forget just how far ahead the USA then was (even vs. Europe).
b) Most any car that did survive World War 2 in China was likely re-smelted for useless pig-iron in Chairman Mao's 'Great Leap Forward.' I cannot imagine what words would do justice to the technological calamity that that was for the hardworking men and women of that country.
c) China's nouveau riche (and there are a lot of them) are only into the 'new;' they want Mercedes', Porches, Tesla's, etc. They want what is new, modern, clean and sleek. Current politics aside, China has come a long way, but, sadly, much of today's China remains a real mess (dirty streets, poor sanitation, unclean food). There are pockets of China that would make a New York Banker blush, but the rest of it is more akin to 1890's America. It will be a long time before a significant portion of wealthy Chinese feel a strong nostalgia for the 1930's.
