Ford Truck Serial # help.

I picked up a 1945? Ford truck. I have done some searching on the internet, but cannot find my serial number that is on the frame listed. It starts with 99C. Van Pelts does not have a 1945 truck listed. Does anyone know of any other good sources for serial numbers?

Thanks

You could try contacting The Henry Ford, to see if they have any records. If the truck was built after June of '45 (when civilian automobile production resumed at Ford) it most likely was originally registered as a '46.

99 denotes the 100 hp version of the flathead as opposed to the 18 and C is a commercial vehicle-the rest of the seriel number will tell you what year

I had a 1945 1/2 ton Ford 34 years ago. If I remember right the serial # began with 59C-XXXXX. I did alot of research on it at the time because I was told by many that Ford did not make a truck in '45. But I found books that disproved that (Maybe the Green Bible) and had it listed as a 1945. I think the old Joblot company had an insert in their catalog as well.

At the time I restored it there were few catalog parts available(mostly if the car parts crossed over they were available) So I had to either make them or use another parts truck. I'm glad to see that there is a much more plentiful parts supply nowadays.

So what kind of shape is your truck in? Let's see some pictures.

Thanks for the information. Looking at Van Pelts, the rest of the serial number would put it as an early 46. The truck itself is rough and would be very difficult to restore to original. It is missing all of the drive train. I hate to see old cars crushed, so I plan on putting an engine and trans in it and just getting it back on the road.

You should have seen how bad mine was when I picked it up. It was free, but I paid $75 to have it towed home. Needless to say my Mother wasn't very pleased. :)
