Ford Special Speedometer Standard

I am ready to begin restoring The Ford 'Special' Speedometer for my 1915 made by the Standard Thermometer Co. I have the book from MTFCI by Russ Furstnow. The dis-assembly of this speedometer is not discussed in that book.
I have the bezel off with the glass intact, the MPH hand is now off and in good shape, the faceplate is off and also in good shape. This is where I am stuck. anybody been down this road before that can guide me? I can't see how to get it apart any farther.... or should I send it in to someone that you would recommend? I know there is an issue inside, it does not presently work, but it needs to come apart to find out what is wrong.

Russ rebuilt the Standard speedometer on my '14 last year. Very reasonable and it works as good as it looks!

There are two tiny screw at the 9 and 3 o'clock positions out by the rim that hold the mechanism to the body. After that, the mechanism will come out. Be careful that the odometer gears don't fall out of place.

Maybe try turning the drive a little while trying to remove the mechanism. It might need to be lined up a certain way if I recall.

Thank you all, and thank you Will N. with just that little bit of reassurance that there wasn't something else holding it in there, I went thru the cable opening and gently but a little more confidently pryed up on the frame and it easily came out! all looks pretty good actually. Now it is time for me to quit and send it off to someone that knows what they are doing!
