Ford script tire and battery quality?

I`m in the marked for new tires and battery for my 1946 Tudor.
Does anybody on here have any experience with both Ford script tire and Ford script battery quality?

What is the best and cheapest source?

Any help appreciated, Thanks!

The battery is not worth the shipping csot in my opinion. I have had 3 or 4 of them.
The last script battery I bough had an Optma setting inside the ford case.
The only way to go. I dont think they are doing them anymore.

Coker Tire sells the vintage tires. I am on my second set of their 3½" whitewall bias ply made by BF Goodrich. I didn't pay the extra $70.00 per tire for the Ford script but they sell those too. Same tire as I run but with the script on it.

I think I get about 30,000 miles with that tire - not a lot compared to radials. As with all bias ply tires, they ride noticeably different than radials, particularly on concrete freeways that have the grooves in them. The bias ply tires want to follow any groove or rut in the pavement. We call it the"Bias-ply Boogy". But, if you're really trying to recreate the past authentically (like I'm committed to) the bias ply is the only way to go.

I had one tire go out of round and another get bulges in the side wall but Coker is real good about replacing them fast.

This is the tire I buy: http://www.cokertire.com/600-16-bf-goodrich-3-1-2-whitewall-tire.html

Here's the Optima 6 volt battery in the authentic Ford case for $320.00, only $20 more but 100 CCA more than the lead/acid Ford script battery has: https://cgfordparts.com/ufolder/showproducts.php?c=1&s=18&g=152&t=1073&tn=

Sources for antique script batteries:

I bought a script 2LF lead acid battery for my 35 Ford from Antique Auto Battery about 10 years ago. It only lasted about 2 to 3 years. After that I started using Optima batteries in my cars. When Optima increased the height of their 6V Red Top Batteries, the antique battery manufacturers stopped putting them in the original looking 2LF lead acid cases. You can still get the Optima in the original looking 2HF lead acid cases. I believe they sell for ~ $280.00 at the two sources mentioned above. I just use the Optima 6V Red Top as it comes from the manufacturer and don't bother trying to hide them in script cases since I am not concerned about losing points on a show field. The Optima's are lasting much longer than any of the lead acid batteries I have used in the past. Plus no worries about maintenance and leaking acid.
I just bought another Optima 6V Red Top Battery from Amazon.com for $115.00 with free shipping.

Coker is about the only source I know of for original looking script tires. Since I am not concerned about having original looking tires on my car, I prefer to use Diamondback Classic Radial Tires.

The available lead-acid script batteries last only two or three years even when religiously maintained with a state-of-the-art battery tender.

With regular batterys I got 7-9 years, then I tried the "script" batterys, 2--and with much charging3 years, constant attention to water, corroded terminals, then a battery off the junk pile---5 years, now I have a 14+ year old Optima that I havn't looked at for 10 years---or done any charging other than driving the car---I did gut one of the cases with the intent of hiding the optima --maybe the next optima if this one ever dies. ---I have never used a battery tender.

Never tried the script tires, have Goodyears on the A(40 years and look it) --tires made for looks usually don't last as long as tires made for driving

Thanks guys! Great help! I will stay away from the script battery but sounds like the tires are trustworthy as they are actually Goodrich tires.

I hate it when the good looking ones are unreliable! Haha.. :)

Thanks!
