Ford script on my brake lining

One of my eight brake shoes had this Ford script on the backside of the lining. The script is flanked by "US" in an octogon-circle looking symbol. Could this be the real deal from eighty yeas ago, or more likely an off the shelf item from the 1950's when the car was last gone though? Just found it interesting either way.

By late 1931 Ford had switched over to a solid lining from the woven. I believe this happened for production cars and service parts.

I have a half a set of the Ford script solid lining. I choose to use a matched set of modern woven for my car. I have a Barrett brake doktor and thought it better to not use the old stuff.

Greg,

Here is the scoop on your brake lining:

It was “specified” on December 28, 1927, Part Release Number 6078, that the “name FORD in script and trade mark be printed on unground side about 12 inches apart” on the stock coils. This was changed to “6 inches” on January 26, 1928, Part Release Number 6820 (Fig. 5). The trademark was a circle with US in the center.

If you have a copy of the March/April 2009 Model "A" News...you can read all about it OR go to my website and I think it is on there...If not let me know...YES, IT IS ON MY WEBSITE!

I think you may have the "reAl deAl"!
