what rear end is next one down from 9"?

i think that's all i need to put behind

this 292.

all i know is Speedway seems to carry

more than a few 8" gear sets.

Fordy's

just thought i'd throw this in.

looking for an early rear end but

with 'safety axles' not the tapered ones.

i think an F100 one used with a Straight 6

might be about right.

what ring and pinion size would that be?

Have A Nice Day!

An F 100 after 1957 would be a nine inch. Before that may be a Spicer or a Dana. If you want a rear axle for a T bucket, it must look right. I would search for an eight inch with big brakes, and about a 3.45 ratio.

The narrowest 8" Ford rear would be from a '78-'80 Granada or a Maverick. Be sure and look to make sure it has a 5 lug wheel pattern. I think they are about 57" from wheel mounting surface to mounting surface.

The Mustang and Maverick 8" is about the narrowest the majority are non-Posi another good choice is the Ford Ranger 8.8 and many are Posi and have rear disc and still retain the 5 on 4 1/2" bolt pattern and are reasonable in price as they are common.

fordy's

well it rained on my 8" rear end parade.

ring and pinions on Speedway were

just ratio above stock and then up to 4.11.

they have a ton of ratios for 9".

the price is right too!:)

the ratio's 'nobody wants', 4.56 and up

are only $125.

i need 'deep' gears for large diameter slicks.

Have A Nice Day!
